PAX Unplugged!

Pax UnpluggedJust a short update. This weekend, me and the wifey are headed to PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia for some games.  We’re gonna be at the Unpub Proto Alley event for most of the event, testing out both Upstaged and Icon.  Hopefully we’ll be putting the final touches on those and have them ready to launch on Kickstarter next year!

If you’re going to be in town, hit us up! We’ll get some games in together and hopefully some grub. Maybe you can even stroll down to Boyz II Men Boulevard with us.  No, seriously! We’ll also be checking out the other historic sites too.  Lol.Boyz II Men Blvd

Look for the Cool Blue Crew!

T-Shirt frontI’m not the best marketer in the world, by far. In fact, I’d say that I’m subpar. It’s because I don’t necessarily like the limelight, and I’m not very good at tooting my own horn (man, that’s a weird saying). Since I’m not great at talking about myself, I figure one of the best ways to get the word out is by letting my fashion sense do the talking. Hence, new Koalatie Icon T-shirts! These type of events enable board game designers to test out their latest games in order to tweak and improve them. The event runs from 11am – 9pm at The Guild House in Bellflower, CA, and after each of the four sessions, we will hold a raffle for sweet board games and other awesome prizes. Best of all, the event is FREE to both playtesters and designers. Continue reading Unpub Mini at The Guild House

Playtesting Essentials

As I’ve mentioned previously, March is going to be a huge month for playtesting for Koalatie Games. By the end of the month, I’m hoping to have at least Center Stage ready for blind playtesting and hopefully Icon as well.

For those new to the world of board game development, playtesting is the process of putting your unfinished game in front of others to play in hopes of gaining constructive feedback. True, there are good and bad playtesters, but you can still learn a lot from the bad ones.

Spinning in Circles

Today is short blog post day! Mark that in your calendars. Because it’s an annual thing. Okay, not really. But it is for me today. Why? Because I’m busy Gearing Up for my own March Madness. So…I’ll leave you with this. My working prototype for Icon. Now you want to play, huh. Well, look to the right and you’ll see where I’ll be. Come join me!

Gearing Up for March

March is almost upon us, and it will mark the 13th month of existence for Koalatie Games. Thirteen is a lucky number for me. By the end of March I will have attended three major conventions far from my local area. I will also have finished my latest prototypes. Hopefully, I’ll even procure some illustrators and graphic artists for my games. Continue reading Gearing Up for March
